Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) has now digitized manual processes into a centralized data portal.

Overview

Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) is a United Nations-supported public health organization dedicated to making life-saving medicines more accessible in low and middle-income countries. MPP collaborates with various stakeholders, including civil society, governments, international organizations, the pharmaceutical industry, and patient groups. The organization prioritizes and licenses essential medicines, sharing intellectual property to promote the production of affordable generic versions and new formulations.

Recognizing manual inefficiencies, they sought digital automation but needed more expertise. Team Ajackus stepped in and streamlined operations through data portals.

Problem

Manual Data Entry

Key details about partners and active products were being manually captured, leading to inefficiencies and potential errors.

Offline Minutes of Meetings (MOMs)

MOMs were maintained offline, making tracking and accessing past meeting records difficult. The lack of a centralized system made it difficult for team members to locate specific meeting documents.

Document Management

Partner invoices and tax documents were also stored offline, complicating document retrieval and management.

Solution

Multiple reports

We created a feature of three specific reports on the dashboard: PDT report, filing report, and sales report. The data portal enabled MPP to access specific reports from dedicated dashboard sections. For instance, through reports, MPP can view detailed information about partners and products, including product details, country, quarter, medicine sales, and purchasers.

Minutes of Meeting (MOM) Integrations

We integrated a system to capture all MOMs on one portal. This solution allows MPP to upload quarterly MOMs and maintain them in a centralized location, eliminating the need to sift through multiple offline records.

Partner Portal for Document Management

We developed a partner portal where MPP can upload and manage partner invoices and tax documents. The portal provides admin access, ensuring secure and efficient document retrieval.

Compliance Template Creation

We created a compliance template feature, allowing users to add new templates as needed, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization.

Partner and Product List Management

We implemented a partner list and a product list section, providing MPP with comprehensive details about partners and products, including product name, category, and product category.

Interactive Map

We created an interactive map feature integrated into MPP’s main website. This feature allows visitors and users to view an interactive table displaying product details, including the countries where products are approved and supplied. This interactive element enhances transparency and provides valuable information to the public directly through MPP’s website.

Results

The data portal solutions we provided have streamlined MPP’s operations, improving data accessibility, management, and accuracy. By transitioning from manual and offline systems to a centralized digital portal, MPP can now efficiently manage and access critical information, facilitating better decision-making and operational efficiency.
